Summer Storms #2
$25.00 No longer available
I’ve been over-dyeing various vintage fabrics, then indigo shibori dyeing them again, using different shapes to increase the variety of effects. I like the underlying theme of a single color in various manifestations. In this case it was the blending of a soft green and a wolf gray.
And since it has been overcast and raining here for a few days, I came to call the color “Summer Storms”. Those “storms” are not only in the shades of color, but in the multitude of shapes as well -- all tangled up together in ever-changing combinations.
Nine patches of vintage fabric, over-dyed.
Snipped about 3” square. Then indigo-dipped.
(The color itself was hard to photograph. In the constant rain-light this week, the gray of the "storm" comes out clear, but the "summer" retreats a bit.
A lot of the patches are a lot greener than they look in the photos, so expect a few surprises if you order.)
This one is my favorite of them all.
I love how the diamond shapes appear and disappear into the whole pattern.
Cotton and silk.
